1027 Groups | Focus & Format
Love God. Love Others. Make a Difference.
"'You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your strength, and all your mind.' And, 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'" - Luke 10:27
Focus | The Five Distinctives
The Five Distinctives are characteristics of the 1027 group focus. We use these as the cornerstone for the activities in the 1027 groups.
The Distinctives are as follows:
Word of God | Devoting ourselves to biblical teachings
Outreach | Learning how to and regularly sharing our faith
Discipleship | Being trained in how to disciple and invest in others
Accountability | Checking in with one another and pursuing fellowship
Prayer | Committing to praying for each other and for those who do not know Christ
Format | The Three Thirds
The 1027 groups meet regularly, with the meetings using a format called the Three Thirds. This allows the group meetings to have a consistent structure as different material is covered and issues are addressed.
The Three Thirds format is as follows:
Looking Back | Praising God by recognizing what has been done in and through our lives
Looking Up | Reading the Word of God
Looking Forward | Training, goal setting, and praying for each other and others we know
